About Our Tiling
Porcelain, ceramic, marble, and other natural stones create elegant hard surface flooring and wall options. No matter your preference there are ceramic and stone solutions for you. Some of the natural stone and ceramic flooring options available include:
Natural Stone Floor
Natural stone floor comes in a number of options for commercial spaces, each one comprised of different materials that give them unique characteristics.
Granite
Granite is the hardest and densest stone. It can be left in a naturally gauged state, honed flat, or polished smooth. It is somewhat porous but its density still makes it resistant to stains and water penetration. To protect the tiles and the grout lines between them granite is sealed after proper installation.
Slate
Slate is almost as hard as granite, it’s made up of layers of flat, hard-packed stone that the weight of the earth has compressed into solid pieces. Its strong structure makes it resistant to cracks and breaks, although it is vulnerable to chipping on the edges of the tiles. It is a porous stone that should be sealed after proper installation, with periodic reapplications to keep at its best.
Marble
Marble is formed when a sedimentary stone is transformed under heat and pressure. Marble floor is a luxurious option with elegant style and a unique appearance, but polished marble is prone to scratching and staining, and is not resistant to water.
Limestone
Limestone is a flooring option that ages gracefully taking on an intentionally antiqued look over time. It is very porous and of moderate strength and density requiring that it be sealed after installation.
Sandstone
Sandstone is extremely porous and needs to be treated with multiple applications of sealer, on a regular basis. It is not usually recommended for humid or wet environments like bathrooms.
Quality Ceramic & Stone Flooring Services
There are a number of ceramic options to suit your needs and personal aesthetic.
Glazed Ceramic Tiles
Most ceramic floor tiles are manufactured with a tough, waterproof, and stain-resistant glaze to create a seal over the surface of the natural clay and so require no further sealing after installation.
Unglazed Ceramic
Ceramic, made from clay and sediments baked hard in a kiln, is in its natural state very porous and will absorb liquids and staining agents. Sealing the floor with a quality ceramic tile sealer can help.
Terra Cotta
Terra cotta is an unglazed ceramic made from a type of red clay found in Mexico and some parts of Europe that produce tiles with distinct patterns. Popular for southwest-style decorating, this is an extremely porous material that must be sealed.
Porcelain
Porcelain is a type of ceramic that is stronger and harder than other ceramics. It is made from clay with finer particles and fired at higher temperatures, creating a harder glazed surface. It’s durable, easy to clean, and resistant to staining and scratching.
