About Our Concrete Grinding, Polishing & Epoxy

Concrete grinding can turn new concrete or old concrete slabs into a cost-effective floor solution. Polished concrete is one of the fastest-growing green floor products on the market. Used in commercial, retail, and industrial applications, its recent popularity spurned S & R Flooring Concepts Inc. to become trained professionals who can offer this service.

What is Polished Concrete?

Polished concrete is a flooring finish achieved by using concrete grinding equipment. You can choose between a satin, semi-gloss, or glossy finish. It is perfect for refurbishing old concrete flooring or making new, low maintenance, durable, and high gloss installations.

Lasting longer than conventional concrete flooring options, mechanically polished floors also cost less, are more eco-friendly, and even look better than the old-fashioned alternatives like waxing, vinyl, or urethane paint.

Grinding & Polishing

Grinding and polishing concrete is very similar to sanding wood. We use machines with diamond-segmented abrasives, similar to sandpaper, to grind down the surface to the desired finish. Like sanding wood, we progress from coarse to finer-grit abrasives.

Epoxy Coating

Once we have finished grinding and polishing we use an epoxy floor coating to ensure the concrete is properly sealed. Epoxy flooring is used to seal the concrete with either a clear or coloured finish and S & R Flooring has worked to become an expert in this field.

Epoxy is a high-quality two-part material made up of 100% solid resin epoxy and hardener. Blended just before it’s applied it bonds quickly to the surfaces coated using radiant heat in a thermosetting reaction.

The result is an attractive, extremely durable and long-lasting finish that will last you much longer than paint. Epoxy flooring is resistant to slipping, dust, and staining. This type of floor is very easy to clean and maintain. You can choose the colour of the epoxy flooring according to your taste and decor.

Quality Concrete Grinding, Polishing & Epoxy

Benefits of Choosing Polished Concrete:

  • Harder than any other option
  • Extremely durable
  • Resists tire marks
  • More wear-resistant than untreated concrete
  • Minimal maintenance costs
  • Solvent-free
  • Cost-effective
  • Great for high traffic

Concrete Repair and Restoration

Sometimes concrete cracks, this is largely due to the evaporation of excess water as the concrete hardens and dries. The wetter the concrete mix, the greater the shrinkage and the likelihood of cracks developing.

We can repair those cracks, and restore your floor by injecting the large cracks with a resin, like epoxy, or by filling small cracks with a patching compound or concrete caulking.

Whether you have a new concrete surface or a 50-year-old slab, we can bridge the gap between aesthetics and performance through our effective grinding and polishing concrete process. We go beyond quality and efficiency.

Our goal is to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with our customers. We strive to understand our customers’ needs and help them achieve their goals. Developing long-term relationships and repeat business is a measure of commitment to our people and the quality of our work. Meaning that our job is never done, and your floor is always in good hands.
