About Our Hardwood Flooring
S & R Flooring Concepts Inc. goes above and beyond your average carpet installers. We offer multiple types, styles, and sizes of hardwood including engineered and professional hardwood flooring.
We specialize in all types of wood flooring installations, restoration, and preservation using a complete range of products.
Engineered wood is made up of a thin slice of hardwood on top of a base of layered high-quality plywood. It is easier to install than solid wood and more cost-effective, and while it is durable, it is not quite as durable as solid wood. It can only be sanded (lightly!) about once or twice in its lifetime.
Floating floors refer to the installation method where individual boards made of engineered hardwood attach to each other either by glue or by snapping together. This method is also popular with laminate flooring. The interlocked pieces are installed over an underlay placed over the existing floor and require no glue-down, stapling or nailing. The wood flooring “floats” over the subfloor.
Floating floors are an inexpensive and easy to install flooring solution that doesn’t require floor removal of the existing floor.
We highly recommend installing floating floors in humid environments as they react well to changes in humidity by expanding and contracting with alterations in the room’s humidity.
Double Glue Down
This method of flooring installation involves first glueing an underlayment to the subfloor and then glueing the flooring to the underlayment. Hence the name, “double glue down”.
Double glue down is a more costly professional hardwood flooring option than floating floors, however, this method is not as prone to wear as floating floors so the cost over the lifetime of your wood flooring may be worth the initial investment.
Our team can help you determine which method will be the most beneficial for your professional hardwood flooring needs.
